Public engagement

I’m always grateful to receive invitations to engage with new audiences on topics such as climate change science and politics, the role of visual and creative media in engaging diverse audiences with environmental challenges, and on the history of human efforts to change, protect and comprehend environments.

In the past I have been honoured to be part of conversations at the University of Nottingham’s Mindset lecture series and Radio BFM89.9*, both in Kuala Lumpur, at art institutions like Nottingham Contemporary, the Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts and SeaChange Arts, and in public talks from Hong Kong to Hempnall, the village where I spent most of my teenage years and where I was recently delighted to speak, alongside my partner Helen, about the recent upsurge in environmental activism and how citizens can contribute to the UK’s goal of reaching net-zero carbon emissions by 2050 (pictured).
